National medical institutions are coming to Chicago

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, provides world-class healthcare, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the internationally respected institutions here at home. The resources at Mayo are often just what patients like Kevin Lue are looking for, and thousands of other Chicagoans make the pilgrimage to Rochester each year.

But the Mayo Clinic isn’t the only national medical institution we look to for a different kind of expertise. The world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, which isn’t too far away to begin with, recently got much closer.

When the highly lauded Central DuPage Health System merged with Delnor Health System in March of last year, Cadence Health was born, and a powerful partnership in healthcare was forged in the western suburbs of Chicago.

This spring, Cadence Health announced that it would be bringing the unparalleled Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute’s cardiology expertise right to the denizens of Chicagoland. This announcement follows on the heels of Cadence Health’s affiliation with Cleveland Clinic’s top-notch adult oncology care.

U.S. News and World Report has ranked Houston’s MD Anderson the number one choice for cancer care eight out of the last ten years. This is great news for us because our very own Advocate Health Care System has been nurturing and expanding a relationship with MD Anderson Physicians Network over the last few years.

Advocate knows a thing or two about fighting cancer. In fact, it treats more cancer patients than any other health system in Illinois. And its growing partnership with MD Anderson will enable it to bring to bear some of the most advanced cancer treatment options.

One of many benefits of living in the country’s third-largest city is access to some of the most effective healthcare in the world. And as our respected institutions continue to evolve, the nation’s other healthcare leaders take note. You may not have to go far for a second opinion; the experts are coming to you.
