Derick Wilder has served as an independent and reliable fact-checker and researcher for Chicago Health and Caregiving magazines since 2021.
He is an author, educator, and entrepreneur with a variety of professional experiences. In his first career, Derick ran a technology consulting firm that specialized in data management. And for the past 20+ years, he has followed his passion for helping children by becoming an educator, public speaker, and author. He founded FitLit Kids, a child development organization that provides enrichment programs to preschoolers and elementary students. He has written for a variety of newspapers and magazines, and currently has three picture book titles to his name, with more on the way.
In this day and age of increasingly unreliable sources, Derick feels the position of fact-checker has become even more vital. As an author, he appreciates well-written and thorough articles, while gathering data and tracking down sources feeds his desire to provide accurate information.
