Elizabeth Owens-Schiele With experience in writing, editing, sales, marketing, management, and teaching, Elizabeth Owens-Schiele owns Schiele Inc., an independent corporation that offers freelance writing, editing and consulting and teaching services.

For the last 20 years, Elizabeth has been contributing weekly columns, features and news articles to the Chicago Tribune and Pioneer Press newspapers, while teaching college-level reporting and writing classes to students at Columbia College Chicago, Harper College in Palatine and to graduate students at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston. Elizabeth also served as the Communication and Media Innovation Department Writing Coach at Columbia in addition to her work as a freelance content producer/news writer at NBC News Chicago.

Elizabeth spearheaded an innovative concurrent enrollment partnership between Township High School District 214 and Arizona State University, teaching more than 200 high school seniors the art of English 101 and English 102, along with Astronomy, Sociology and Health. Collectively, 100% of these students went on to college, earning in excess of $2.8 million in scholarships.

Elizabeth previously worked at Tribune Company Chicago acting as a sales manager, marketer then executive editor and general manager of the custom publishing division of Tribune Media Services where she was instrumental in such high-level, company-wide initiatives as CareerBuilder in print for all of the Tribune newspapers as well as the former Knight Ridder Newspaper chain and some of the Gannett newspapers. In addition, Elizabeth created a number of high profile strategic partnerships with various content providers such as Time Inc., CNet, among others, while overseeing various marketing initiatives that led to significant returns in sales.

Throughout her career, Elizabeth has worked as an effective manager and project manager with impressive results. She always takes a fresh and innovative approach to publishing in print and online.

Beyond her management expertise, she has also contributed to the editing and publication of a number of magazines and books and launch of numerous syndicated features and product lines.
