Ros Lederman, a freelance writer and fact checker, has been writing since she could put a pen to paper, back when that was what “writing” meant. She pursued all forms of writing through graduate school, when a journalism professor told her that, despite this being Ros’ first and only journalism course, she was ready to hit the streets and find a beat.
Soon Ros found her home writing about all things medical and healthcare. She also branched out into the world of digital accessibility, driven by passion and personal experience living with disabilities. She is both a certified professional in accessibility core competencies and a Department of Homeland Security Section 508 Trusted Tester.
Through her writing, Ros hopes to reach anyone who needs health or medical information but finds most of what is available to be inaccessible because it is poorly written, too technical, or biased to the point of being factually incorrect.
As a fact checker, Ros is all about the details. No statement goes unverified when an assignment crosses her desk. Language is filled with subtleties and it is easy to create different meanings with the slightest accidental misinterpretation of a study or misstroke on a keyboard. Ros is here to make sure the truth gets through. Like many of her fellow ADHDers, she has a high level of justice sensitivity, driving her to constantly strive to do the just thing. This dedication also comes through in her disability advocacy work.
In her spare time, Ros enjoys being a cat mom, AFOL (adult fan of LEGO), and Justin Timberlake admirer (since July 4, 1998, but who’s counting?). You can find out more about her professionally on LinkedIn and personally on Instagram.
