Rachel Duckett is a freelance health and science writer. She is currently earning her master’s degree from Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism. A lifelong Midwesterner, she previously hosted All Things Considered at WVIK, Quad Cities NPR in Rock Island, Illinois, where she won first place Best Newscast and second place Best General Reporting awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association. Before that, she worked at an environmental initiative out of Detroit Public Television called Great Lakes Now, covering environmental stories in the Great Lakes Basin, and as a copy editor for the Spartan Medical Research Journal in East Lansing, Michigan.
